Ravichandran Ashwin made South Africa’s legendary pacer sing an iconic Bollywood song that was especially dedicated to the Chennai Super Kings fans.
Team India levelled the 2-match Test series against South Africa 1-1 as they won the 2nd Test match by 7 wickets at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who wasn’t playing in the 2nd Test match, provided the fans with some off-field entertainment. The video of this interaction featuring Ashwin and Ntini has gone viral. In the video, Ashwin requested the legendary pacer to sing a song and dedicate it to the CSK fans. To everyone’s surprise, the South African pacer sang his own version of the iconic Bollywood song, ‘Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein, Khayal Aata Hai.’ Ntini’s hilarious interpretation and attempt to sing the song left Ashwin laughing, but Ntini seemed to have enjoyed his time singing the song.
The video is being circulated widely on social media as CSK players never fail to impress the fans, be it on-field or off-field, with their performance.
This gesture showcased Ntini’s love for the Yellow Army. He played for CSK for 2 seasons, in 2008 and 2009 in the Indian Premier League. He was part of the broadcasting team for SuperSport and shared a light-hearted moment with Ashwin, who was associated with the champion team from 2009 till 2015.
Meanwhile, Ashwin is in the race to win the ICC Men’s Test cricketer of 2023. He is the only Indian nominated for this prestigious award, along with Travis Head, Usman Khawaja and Joe Root. Ashwin has been nominated for the award for the 3rd time, having won it in 2016. He will be back in whites for India for the 5-match Test series against England, starting January 25 in Hyderabad.
India will also be hosting Afghanistan for the 3-match T20I series that starts on January 11.
