Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar was impressed by wicket-keeping batter KL Rahul’s gritty hundred in Centurion. Rahul scored a brilliant century to help India post 245 runs in the first innings in their Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

SA vs IND, Day 2 Live Score and Updates

Rahul scored 101 runs off 137 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and four maximums in Centurion. He became just the third Indian batter to score multiple centuries in South Africa. He joined Tendulkar (5) and Virat Kohli (2) in this elite list.

Interestingly, Rahul had scored a century at Centurion when India last played a Test match against South Africa at this venue. Rahul brought up his century in style, smashing Proteas pacer Gerald Coetzee for a six in the 68th over.

The ‘Master Blaster’ took to social media platform ‘X’, to say that he was impressed with Rahul’s clarity of thought, adding that his footwork looked precise in Centurion.

“Well played @klrahul. What impressed me was his clarity of thought. His footwork looked precise and assured, and that happens when a batter is thinking right. This century is crucial in the context of this Test. India would be happy with 245 considering where they were at one stage yesterday.

Nandre Burger and @GeraldCoetzee62 look like a good addition to the South African bowling line-up. I feel South Africa won’t be too happy with their bowling performance considering the conditions,” Tendulkar posted on ‘X’.

After getting to his eighth Test hundred, Rahul was cleaned up by Nandre Burger as India ended with 245 runs on the board in the first innings.

India is aiming to conquer their final frontier in Test cricket. They have never won a Test series on South African soil, having tried and failed on eight occasions in the past.
