INDW vs ENGW 1st T20I: Report | Highlights
England batters enjoyed the conditions in Mumbai and hit a match-winning 197-run total. India faltered in the chase and were only able to score 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Speaking ahead of the 2nd T20I match, Patil believes that India should have bowled well but the real reason they lost the match was due to their fielding effort.
“The wicket was amazing to bat on, it was not easy (to bowl), but I think we did a pretty decent job. We will have a discussion as to what can be improved. Fielding could have been better, but we will bounce back stronger,” she said.
The spinner argued that it was not an easy wicket to bowl on and said that she needed to quickly improve in the death overs.
“We could have varied the pace little more, the wicket was not that great for bowlers, it was completely in favour of the batters. I could bowled better but bowling in the death overs is not at all easy,” Patil told reporters at the Wankhede Stadium.
Patil, who was one of the finds of the inaugural edition of the WPL spoke about her nerves ahead of her debut match.
The 21-year-old said it was difficult for her to get sleep after knowing that she would make her debut against England.
“I was very happy that I got the cap. I was a bit excited as well as nervous, I did not get any sleep (the previous night) but after one or two balls I was fine. (It felt like) I belong here,” she said.
India will play England in the 2nd T20I match on 9 December, Saturday.
