Bhubaneswar: The health and family welfare department on Monday clarified that doctors serving under the department would be granted study leave for higher studies even during the first five years of their service.
After listening to the grievances of post-graduate and post-PG medicos, health and family welfare department secretary Shalini Pandit issued the clarification.
A maximum period of six years of study leave would be allowed subject to other conditions of absence from duty. The period of study leave would also be counted towards promotion, the statement said.
“Doctors pursuing PG or post PG would be entitled to get their salary during study leave. Their salary would be drawn from their respective places of last posting,” the department said in an official statement.
